Moataz is an Egyptian humanitarian and development specialist with over six years of experience delivering complex programmes for intergovernmental and humanitarian organisations across the Middle East and North Africa. His work bridges operational delivery and strategic innovation, with a particular focus on migration management, protection, counter-trafficking, and the use of emerging technologies in humanitarian response.

Throughout his career, Moataz has led high-impact initiatives in refugee resettlement, assisted voluntary return and reintegration, and cultural orientation, as well as coordinated anti-trafficking campaigns with national councils and multi-agency partners. He has deployed to emergency contexts, including support for Afghan refugee operations in Qatar, and has delivered capacity-building programmes for governmental bodies, UN agencies, and civil society organisations.

A fluent Arabic and English speaker, Moataz holds a joint master’s in international Humanitarian Action from Uppsala University in Sweden and the University of Deusto in Spain, specialising in protection, and a bachelor’s degree in political science with a Minor in Information Technology from the American University in Cairo. His master’s thesis explored the transformative role of artificial intelligence in humanitarian needs assessments, positioning him at the intersection of humanitarian operations and technological innovation.
