Background
Aligning investment in education, skills training and TVET with the needs of the labour market is a continuous challenge, but an essential one to surmount in order to deliver decent livelihoods, and meaningful and sustainable growth.
Delta Strategies works with UN Agencies, leading NGOs, and governments to understand current and future labour markets, and design, implement, and evaluate interventions which seek to align education and training priorities with the future needs of the labour market.
We do this in a number of different ways, including supporting NGOs with implementing targeted, sector-specific skills training iniatives, working with governments to understand patterns and trends in labour market need, and adapting education and training provision to ensure the next generation of graduates can access quality jobs, and leveraging international best practice to to design and develop curricula for academic institutions and state actors.
Case Study
The Challenge
The social care sector is becoming a global challenge, as people live longer, and with more complex care needs, and care costs spiralling.
The Abu Dhabi Department for Community Development, through the FCA, sought to develop a programme to identify, train, and retain local staff for the social care and protection sector.
To do this, they required a clear understanding of the social care landscape, an assessment of future staffing need, and a training curriculum which meets the needs of the sector, now and into the future.
The Outcome
Delta Strategies, alongside local partners, conducted an extensive data-driven supply and demand forecasting exercise, to identify patterns and trends, and project future staffing and resourcing requirements, disaggregated by region and sector.
Alongside subject matter experts, we prepared extensive curricula for an diploma programme for local practitioners, alongside groundwork for partnerships with world-leading international universities.
